A quick and flavorful weeknight favorite: tender shrimp tossed with al dente spaghetti in a garlicky, peppery olive oil sauce. Simple, elegant, and incredibly satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale

8 oz (225g) spaghetti
1 lb (450g) medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced or minced
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1–2 minutes, until garlic is fragrant but not browned.
Add shrimp to the skillet, season with salt and black pepper, and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until shrimp are pink and opaque. Remove shrimp from the skillet.
Toss the cooked spaghetti in the skillet with the garlic oil, adding a bit of pasta water to create a glossy, saucy texture. Stir in the cooked shrimp.
Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, skip the shrimp and add cherry tomatoes or asparagus.
For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free spaghetti.
Shrimp can be substituted with halal chicken or tofu for a meat-free alternative.
